COUNTY RANCER DIES SUDDENLY

Alfred Jacob Hirschi, 65, South Montpelier farmer and rancher, died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday afternoon near his ranch land in upper Alton Valley. Mr. Hirschi, accompanied by Mrs. Hirschi, was nearing his destination when the one-half ton pickup he was driving became stuck in the snow.

After attempting to get the vehicle out, he told Mrs. Hirschi he would walk to his nearby ranch house to secure a team from a sheepherder. He had gone only a short distance when he fell over dead.

Mrs. Hirschi walked to the sheep camp and from there secured transportation to the Gilbert Lloyd house in Alton Valley.

Mrs. Hirschi, well known in the area, had lived most of his life at the home ranch two miles south of Montpelier. He was an elder in the LDS Church.

Mr. Hirschi and Sylvia Elaine Leissring were married March 11, 1931.

Besides his widow he is survived by four children, Mrs. Don A. (Nina) Jensen of Montpelier, Mrs. Don D. (Patricia) Boyd of Burbank, California, Mrs. Theone (Elaine) Johnson of Pocatello, and Timothy A. Hirschi, 10, four grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters, Walter Hirschi of San Francisco, Harry Hirschi of Pocatello, Edwin Hirschi of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Newell (Maud) Standley of Murray, Utah, Mrs. Edna Williams, Provo, and Mrs. Howard (Marguerite) Buhler of Rupert.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Montpelier Third-Fifth Ward Chapel. Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

SERVICES HELD FOR ALFRED J. HIRSCHI

Funeral services for Alfred J. Hirschi were held at 1 p.m., December 30, in the Montpelier LDS Third-Fifth Ward Chapel with Bishop Val Rich of the First Ward conducting. A vocal solo, “I Walked Alone”, was by Max Haddock; invocation, David Jensen; obituary, Bishop Rich; speaker, President Frank W. Hirschi; violin duet, “In The Garden”, Lenna and Linda Jacobson, accompanied by Mrs. Roy Jacobson; speaker, Walter Hunzeker; vocal solo, Mrs. Walter Hunzeker; benediction, Doyle Anthony. Prayer at the mortuary, Harry Hirschi; prelude and postlude, Mrs. J. F. Spidell.

Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery and the grave was dedicated by Roscoe Evans, Pallbearers, Gilbert Lloyd, Jerry Lloyd, Willard Bischoff, Roscoe Evans, Russell Bridges and Fred W. Hunzeker.
