RUTH
Arthur Riley Ruth was born to Jacob and Gracie Ruth in Clarke County, Iowa, near Weldon, on January 18, 1917, and passed away suddenly at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, on October 30, 1975 at the age of 58 years, 9 months and 12 days.
He was united in marriage to Mildred Van Winkle in Trenton, Mo., March 28, 1942. To this union was born one son, Ernest Wayne. He lived in the Weldon-Humeston area most of his married life, where he was familiarly known as "Bud." He was educated in the Fairview School in Clarke County.
Farming was his main work but he also worked in the plumbing and heating business.
He was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Nellie; one brother, Lewis in infancy; and one brother, Walter, in January of this year.
Those who mourn his passing are his wife, Mildred; one son, Ernest Wayne and wife, Janet of Chariton; two granddaughters, Penny and Kelley; one grandson, Robbie; his mother, Mrs. Grace Ruth of Leisure Manor in Osceola; three sisters, Mrs. Fairie Hayward of LeRoy, Mrs. Ruby Hines of Trenton, Mo., and Mrs. Martha Parrish and husband, Reuben of Indianola; one brother, Leslie and wife, Merna of Osceola; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Ruth of Weldon; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 3, at Webster-Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Roy Jones officiating. Burial was in the Humeston Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Kipper, Ullin Karn, Ken Reece, Orval Clouse, James Porterfield and Bill Davenport. Mrs. Alice Friday, organist, played "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond the Sunset."
