Leslie Ray Ruth, son of Jacob Nathaniel Ruth and Gracie Elizabeth (Wright) Ruth was born November 12, 1925 in Franklin Twp, Clarke County, Iowa and passed into eternity on August 21, 2018 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, Iowa at the age of 92 years.
Leslie grew up in Clarke County and joined the U.S. Navy on May 26, 1943 and served in the South Pacific on the U.S. Mustin until his discharge on November 25, 1945. Leslie has always been proud of his time served during WW2. He loved the USA and he always had the flag flying.
He has worked on construction most of his life, never leaving his beloved Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Merna Pauline Routh on May 25, 1943 in Bethany, Missouri and were blessed with six children.
Leslie Ruth received Jesus Christ as his Savior while attending Central Assembly of God Church in Des Moines, Iowa
Leslie was preceded in death by his wife, Merna; his parents Jacob and Gracie; his brothers, Lewis, Walter, and Arthur; his sisters, Nellie Ruth, Fairie Hayward, Ruby Hines and Martha Parrish; son-in-law, Tom Knapp; and a granddaughter Rhonda Hart.
He is survived by his children and their spouses; Robert (Diane) Ruth of Lucas, IA, Joyce (Ralph) Hart of Omaha, NE, Sharon (Ron) Lehman of Grimes, IA, Shirley (Clay) Hines of Polk City, IA, Kenneth (Sue) Ruth of Indianola, IA, and Anne Davis of Des Moines, IA; sister-in-laws Shirley Richards of Indianola, IA and Donna Routh of Des Moines, IA: many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, as well as other relatives and many friends.
