TWO WORLD WAR I VETERANS DIE
Two World War I veterans, Gus Achterhof, 55 years old, 1081 Spring Street and Fred Morin, 62 years old, 935 Windsor Avenue, died Sunday.
Mr. Achterhof, employed for the past 15 years in the furniture repair department of the Montgomery and Ward store here, died in Mercy Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Morin, a lifelong resident of Muskegon, died in the Michigan Veterans Facilities Hospital in Grand Rapids after a long illness.
Born September 17, 1892 in Grand Haven, Mr. Achterhof had been a resident her for 30 years. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, Muskegon and of the Men's Society. He was married September 11, 1919 to Miss Kathryn Stulp in Muskegon.
He leaves the widow; two brothers, John of Muskegon and Jake of New Era; four sisters, Mrs. Ben Den Ouder of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Archie Banette and Mrs. Ralph Vanette, both of New Era and Mrs. George Grotenhis of Holland.
Born May 29, 1885, in Muskegon, Mr. Morin served as an engineer in the U. S. Navy during the first World War. He had been a communicant of the St. Jean's Catholic Church.
He leaves five sisters, Mrs. John M. Hodson, Mrs. W. G. Turner and Mrs. G. Phillip Davies, all of Muskegon; Mrs. Loran Hicks of South Bend, Indiana nd Mrs. Rose Giloy of Cleveland.
