Compiling information from the various Spencer entries, I find that the father of Martin E (and all Belinda's children?) was Ephraim Spencer. As there are no entries for Ephraim in his own right, it is likely he died before the family came to MN, or at least before they appear in MN records. An 1879 Otsego Township plat map shows that B[elinda] Spencer bought 80 acres in Range 23 section 20. The entry for her death says she died of a "Fracture of Hip Bone" and that her mother's name was Jane.

It was reported last night that Mrs. Belinda Spencer of Otsego, was not expected to live through the night. She fell and broke her hip last spring and has not recovered from the accident. She was the mother of Martin and Charles Spencer, and was 82 years old.
November 12, 1891
The funeral of Mrs. Belinda Spencer, whose death was reported in last week's paper, occurred from the residence of her son, Martin Spencer, on Friday afternoon, and was largely attended by old friends of the deceased. The family wish to extend their thanks to the many kind friends who rendered them assistance during their affliction.
