As stated in our last issue, Mrs. Susan Seargent died of the injuries she sustained by a fall. She was 80 years old and had lived in this county a good portion of her long life, having been born in Rockcastle and moved here many years ago. She was the widow of John B. Seargent, who preceded her to the grave 14 years. Early in life Mrs. Seargent united with the Christian church and had been a devout member since. She was a regular attendant at the services of her church and did much to further the good work of it. Mrs. Seargent spent her last years with her daughter, Mrs. Annie Lasley, whose tender devotion to the aged mother was beautiful to behold. Besides Mrs. Lasley, J.B. Seargent, of Port Arthur, Texas, Hugh Seargent, of this county, and Dr. Andrew Seargent, of Hopkinsville, are left to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent christian mother. They were spared a mother longer than the average sons and daughters, but that makes their loss all the harder to bear and in it they have much sympathy. After short services by Rev. J.W. Hagin Friday afternoon, the remains were taken to Buffalo cemetery and laid away to await the resurrection morn.
