Earnie Lemaster died May 27, 1942 in the Philippines in a concentration camp after the Bataan Death March. He was assigned to the Gapan Bridge detail where he died from Malaria.


Earnie LeMaster was a member of the 17th Ordnance Company. His company's job was to service the tanks of the Provisional Tank Group in the Philippine Islands. Earnie went out on the bridge building detail to get out of Camp O'Donnell. This POW camp had as many as 50 POWs die each day. The detail's job was to rebuild the bridges that the retreating American and Filipino Forces Destroyed as they fell back into the Bataan Peninsula. Most of the men on the detail came from the tank group.
