MUSCATINE, Iowa --Ethel May Phillips, 84, formerly of Grandview, died Monday morning, May 7, 2012, at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.

Funeral Service will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at the Grandview Community Bible Church. Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello.

Ethel was born on November 25, 1927, in Cedar County, the daughter of John and Ethel May Callahan Fowler. She married Verl G. Phillips on Decenber 29, 1945, in Iowa City. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1986.

Her occupations included homemaker, telegram delivery and custodian for Grandview Community Bible Church where she was a faithful member, working with the Missionary Ladies, the choir, and as superintendent of the Junior Department. She was secretary and leader for the Awana Club.

Survivors include her son, Danny Phillips and wife, Robin, of Wapello; daughters, Diana Ewoldt of Grandview, and Barbara Rust and husband, Mike, of George, Iowa; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Peterson of Peoria, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her uncle and aunt, Thomas and Beatrice Fowler who raised her; three brothers, Wayne, Paul, and Ernest; and four sisters, Vera, Catherine, Lily, and Violet.
