Fred C. Leifheit, 66, Rock Springs, president of the Meigs County Fair Board, and a well known Meigs County livestock dealer, died Sunday night at the Southeastern Ohio Mental Health Center in Athens. Mr. Leifheit had been ill several months.
Re-elected a number of times as president of the fair board, Mr. Leifheit also had been a Salisbury township trustee. He was active in Meigs County Republican circles.
A past member of the Meigs County Riding club, he and Mrs. Leifheit over many years were active in numerous horse shows throughout the area.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille Radford Leifheit; two sisters, Mrs. Otho (Ada) Murray of Pomeroy and Mrs. Lena Bramlage, Columbus, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Barbara Leifheit; a brother, Clifford, and a sister Mrs. Clara Windon.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Ewing Funeral Home with the Rev. W. H. Perrin officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday.
Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked friends to contribute to the Meigs County Heart Fund.
Mr. Leifheit's death was the second member of the county fair board to die this year. Charles Radford, Pomeroy, Mason City hardware merchant and veteran member of the board died May 2nd.
