Their home address was Rosenberggade 14, Bergen, although Ole's last permanent address was Fonda, Iowa.Their final destination was listed as Chicago, Illinois. Death summoned one of Fonda's longtime and respected citizens last Tuesday when John Anderson, 83, died at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge following a short illness.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Mahaney Funeral Home. Rev. John Brennan, O.L.G.C. pastor officiated with burial following at Cedar Cemetery. Casket bearers were John Prendergast, Don Tegels, Vince Branigan, Bill Eaton, Harley Smith, Sr. and Paul Schachtner.

Mr. Anderson was born December 25, 1893 in Norway and came to the Fonda area in 1910. He married Florence Hansen in 1917 in Rockwell City and the couple farmed in the Fonda area for many years.

Surviving are the widow, Florence; daughter, Mrs. Gene Wolford, Fergus Falls, Minnesota; son, Don, Fonda; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Source: The Fonda Times; Thursday, 11 August 1977.

John Andersen was born in Bergen, Norway (1895-1977). John came to America, Fonda, Iowa in 1910. He worked with various ones in farming and machinery until 1917. In that year he married Florence Hanson. Florence was born in Gratiot, Wisconsin in 1897 her parents being Peter (1860-1933) and Mable Huett (1870-1963) Hanson.

John and Florence lived in Calhoun county for a few years. Later, while living in Wisconsin, their son Donald was born in 1923 at Rice Lake.

The family then moved to Rockwell City, Iowa where John managed the farm for the State Reformatory. While at Rockwell City a daughter, Jean, was born in 1926.

Since then the Andersens farmed in Cedar township. Donald now lives on the home farm a mile east of Fonda with his mother, Florence.

Jean married Byron Wolford and their home is at Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Jean is a registered nurse and practiced her profession for many years.
