Dorothy Powers, 87, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Tell City.

She was born in Stephensport, Kentucky, on May 3, 1924. Her parents were the late Charles Van Conia and Tishia (Sago) Van Conia. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Dena Powers; sons, Ivan Edward Bland and Billy Powers; grandson, Joe Bland; great granddaughter, Kelsey Bland; sister, Marie VanConey and brothers, Sidney and Minor Burns, Jr.

She was married to William Powers for 53 years before his passing in 2006. A homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving her is a daughter, Bonnie Lawalin (Eddie), Cannelton; son, Jerry Bland (Margaret), Tell City; daughter-in-law, Nancy Bland, Rome; sister, Garnet Hammack, Tell City; brother, Omer Bryant, Tell City; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 5, 2011, at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Monday. Pastor Steve Bennett will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
