MANTEO, NC - Gary Preston Hunter, 43, of Manteo, NC died Friday, April 14, 2006 at the Outer Banks Hospital.

Born in Chowan County, NC, he was the son of Marvin Hunter, Sr. and Naomi Riddick Hunter of Hertford, NC. Mr. Hunter was a driver for UPS and was a member of the Bear Swamp Hunting Club.

Besides his parents, Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Sherry Stites Hunter of the residence; two sons, Ryan Abbott Hunter and Wayne Preston Hunter both of Manteo, NC; a sister, Joan H. Rountree of Kill Devil Hills, NC; a brother, Marvin Hunter, Jr. of Hertford, NC; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Riddick and Mr. and Mrs. Abbott Hunter.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Manteo High School Baseball Field by the Rev. Tony Facenda. In case of rain, the service will be held at the Manteo Baptist Church. Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo, NC is in charge of arrangements.
