Mildred Ost, 91, of Thief River Falls, MN died on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 1:30 PM at St. Bernard's Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5 – 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service with a Rosary to follow at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN and also on Wednesday one hour prior to services.
Mildred Mercil was born May 8, 1920 at Brooks, MN, the daughter of Medore and Elizabeth (Champagne) Mercil. She was baptized and confirmed at Brooks, MN. She attended school at Brooks as well. On March 22, 1943 she was united in marriage to Royal Ost in Red Lake Falls, MN.
She was employed in the dietary department of St. Mary's Hospital, Detroit Lakes, MN. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and she was fond of embroidering. Millie was caregiver for many years to her grandchildren and also cared for her daughter in her last years.
Mildred is survived by a daughter, Kay (Lowell) Burkel, of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Robert (Shelly) Burkel, Michael Burkel, Stephanie (John) Halverson and Lindsey Gunderson; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Joseph and Noah Burkel, Alek and Connor Halverson; brothers and sister, Virgil (Muriel) Mercil, of Thief River Falls, MN, Yvonne Morinville of Brooks, MN, Wendolyn (Addie) Mercil of White Bear Lake, MN and Gerald (Virginia) Mercil of Minneapolis, MN. Son-in-law Mark Gunderson.
Preceded in death by husband Royal Ost in 1964; daughter Luone Gunderson in 2002, parents, Med and Elizabeth Mercil and brother-in-law, Lawrence Morinville.
