Paul Bennett 74, of McCammon, ID passed peacefully away September 2, 2011 after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma. Paul was born in Paul, ID August 15, 1937 to William George Bennett and Blanche Niles Bennett. He attended several elementary and middle schools and then attended Pocatello High School. Paul enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Pacific 7th fleet for 4 years. After his military service Paul attended Long Beach City College for 5 years and then he began his profession as a Union Sheet Metal Worker in Southern California and Idaho.
Paul worked on all kinds of projects around the US which included the Black Angus Restaurants, Red Lobster's, Alpha Beta Stores, The Anaheim Pound (here the Ducks play), to the Space Shuttle, and the INL along with many others. His most proud job was the revolving horseshoe on the top of the Horseshoe Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. He would tell you "I'm the guy who put the horseshoe on the Horseshoe Hotel & Casino, and there's 11 miles of neon in that spillway". Paul always made his crew feel like they were part of the big picture not just a part of the job. Paul was a dedicated Union Member and mentor to many. After his retirement he taught at the Sheet Metal Apprentice School in Firth, ID for several years before becoming ill.
Paul loved hunting, camping, traveling around the US and Carnival cruises. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Paul is survived by his wife of 22 years Trudy Bennett, his sister Betty (Bennett) Adams, his sons Donald (Sheila) Bennett, Robert (Susan) Bennett, Charles C Damron, and daughter Teresa (Kenneth) Trice, ten grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sister Mary (Bennett) Bunce.
The family would like to thank Creekside Home Health & Hospice for the care of their Husband, Dad, and Grandpa.
God knows each of us must travel down a long road in life. Each on a path of our own and of its own length. God does not care who you were. God cares who you are.
