Mrs Rebecca (Mishler) Paulus 68, widow of the late Jacob Paulus, who died several months ago at the farm home four miles south of Elkhkart on the Oakland avenue road, died at 6 am Tuesday at the home of Mrs Effie Cripe, a daughter, at North Manchester, Ind. Death was due to heart disease and complications. Mrs. Paulus had made her home with Mrs Cripe since Christmas. Before that time, and after the death of her husband, she had lived with her children in the vicinity of Wakarusa.

She is survived, in addition to the daughter mentioned, by two daughters, Mrs Ralph Eby, Wakarusa; and Mrs Thomas Ort, South Bend; two sons, Floyd Paulus, who lives near the ole home on the Oakland avenue road, and Walter Paulus, Detroit; two brothers, Edward Mishler of Wakarusa, and Milton Mishler of Goshen, a sister, Mrs. Lottie Eveland, Kent City, Mich, and six grandchildren.

Mrs Paulus was born in Youngstown, Pa, on June 20, 1861. As a two year old baby she was brought to Indiana by her parents, who established themselves two miles west of Goshen.

She was married to Mr Paulus on June 5, 1881, and then located on the farm where Mr Paulus died. The couple joined the Church of the Brethren at Elkhart Valley 40 years ago, and were always prominently identified with the life of that church, Mr Paulus serving as deacon.

The body was brought to Wakarusa from North Manchester Tuesday morning, being taken to the home of the son, Floyd. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon, with a brief service at the son's home at 1:30 pm, followed by services at the Elkhart Valley church at 2 pm Burial will take place at the Praire street cemetery, Elkhart, The Rev E O Swihart of Elkhart officiating.
