*NOTE--The Quaker records (Society of Friends) say he was received in Membership March 12, 1842 and that he married Elizabeth Nicholson a widow, with children, November 13, 1847. From church records it can be seen that Elizabeth was pregnant before her marriage to Adam and was disowned by the Friends Monthly Meeting for this "illegitimate child". Adam, on the other hand was not reported or disowned!
