Peter Kaus was born in Germany on June 24, 1848 and he was the son of John Kaus and Margaret Westenberger. Peter married Sophia Weizel June 19, 1870 at Sheboygen Wisconsin. They moved to Chilton, Wiscomsin where their children were born: Frank, Lizzie, Margaret, William and Anna. The family then moved to St. Bernard Nebraska where Mary and Christina were born. They moved to Dresden, Kansas in 1886 and Peter, Sophia and Katie were born. In 1906 Peter and his son Frank and the younger members of the family moved to Idaho to join his sister, Margaret Kaus Schacker and her husband Chris, who had arrived in Idaho in 1907. Peter settled on a farm about five miles from Fredinand Idaho and Frank rented a farm about three miles west of Cottonwood. Peter retired from farming in 1924 and moved to a small place in Cottonwood where he kept a couple cows and chickens an some bees until his death on 20 Oct 1927. Sophia died on 4 Mar 1929.
