Frank B. Ortman, 95, of Mountain Home

Services for Frank B. Ortman of Mountain Home will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kirby Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Brizzi officiating. Mr. Ortman died Thursday (Dec. 20, 1995) at his home. He was 95.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Kirby Funeral Home. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery with Mike Thompson, Robert Fielding, Owen Boyd Kendrick, J.W. Magness and Clyde Collins serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include W.A. "Bill" Thompson, Herbert Pittman, John Devries, Quenton Wren and Sneed Noe Collins.

Mr. Ortman formerly lived in Cotter, where he was postmaster for eight years. He also owned an Exxon dealership there until he retired in 1965. He had resided in Mountain Home for the past five years. He moved from Iowa to Cotter in 1905 and was a graduate of Cotter High School. He was a member of the Cotter Rotary Club, a former member of Cotter Planning Commission and past commander of Alley-White American Legion. He had been an American Legion member for more than 70 years.

Mr. Ortman served twice on the Cotter City Council. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I. He was born Jan. 27, 1900, at Iowa City, Iowa, son of the late Galen B. and Mary Dwigans Ortman. He and the former Rubye Jones were married Oct. 14, 1923, at Mountain Home. Mr. Ortman was a member of Bull Shoals Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Althea and Charles Heard of Bull Shoals and Anita and Clyde Becker of Ponca City, Okla.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, three brothers and one grandson, Mark Heard.

Memorials may be made to the Walnut Hill Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, Health Services Foundation of Baxter County Regional Hospital, Hospice of the Ozarks or United Methodist Church of Bull Shoals.
