He enlisted in the US Army on October 23, 1942 in Camden, New Jersey as a Warrant Officers for the duration of World War II and served in the Bataan Death March, Philippines, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. His only education was grammar school, and his civilian occupation was listed in his military records as a truck driver. He was married for a short period of time before his enlistment into military service in 1942 and marital status is listed as ‘separated' on those documents. He married Agnes Marie (Krousenski changed to Krouse) Cannon in 1946 and is survived by his wife and three children; Betty (Cannon) Dupree; David Cannon and Jody Cannon; grandchildren Eric McCorkle; Jessica Dupree; Ricky Cannon; Joey Cannon; Heather (Cannon) Bowers: Autumn B. Cannon; great-grandchildren Faith M. Bowers and Bailey Bowers; two additional great-granddaughters and great-grandson Triston Cannon. He died in the Veterans Hospital from complications of cancer.
Note: This was the original burial site, but his brother's family had the body moved to Sharon Hill Memorial Park on July 30, 1989 where he now rests next to "Frankie".
