Mrs. Lucy Leona Matheny 78 0fm213 Virginia Ave Florence died at her residence at 4 pm Sunday Following an extended illness.
She was a native and life-long resident of Lauderdale County and a member of Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 pm from Bluewater Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Vernon Goodman and the Rev Hollis Kitchens officiating.
Burial will be in Bluewater cemetery.
The body will be at the funeral home and will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service.
Survivors are husband John L Matheny, Florence, 4 sons John Louis Peck Florence, Thomas Lloyd Peck, Leighton, Paul Matheny, Buford, Ga, and Fred C. Matheny, Macon, Ga, 4 daughters, Mrs. Ophelia Glover, Sheffield, Mrs. WW Weatherford, Athens, Mrs. Thomas E Pinkerton, El Paso, Tx, and Mrs. Russellville E Wright, Centerville, Ga., 1 brother Morris Grigsby, Killen, 2 sisters Mrs. Fannie Peck, Killen and Mrs. Hettie McGee, Killen, 24 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons.
