Imogene T. 'Jimmie' Jordan was born October 7, 1878 in Alabama, daughter of James Alexander Jordan (1841-1907) and Mary M. Bradley (1846-1878). Jimmie's parents married July 1, 1864 in Pike County, Alabama and had six children together, with Jimmie being the youngest. Jimmie's mother died sometime around 1878, and on March 28, 1880, her father married Sarah Matilda Bradley and they had six children together.

The 1900 Federal Census for Township 6, Indian Territory (Chickasaw Nation) shows Jimmie T. Jordan, age 21, born in October 1878 in Alabama; living with her father, James Jordan, age 62, born March 1838in Alabama; and her mother, stepmother, Sarah M., age 47, born May 1853 in Alabama. Also living in the household were Jimmie's siblings: Ila J. Jordan, age 17, born July 1882 in Texas; Mark Jordan, age 15, born June 1884 in Texas; Nix Jordan, age 13, born March 1887 in Indian Territory; William B. Jordan, age 10, born April 1890 in Indian Territory; James C. Jordan, age 5, born February 1895 in Indian Territory; and Sherman T. Jordan, age 2, born August 1897 in Indian Territory.

Jimmie married John C. 'Will' Cotton, who was born March 28, 1856 in Louisiana.

The 1920 Federal Census for Durant Ward 1, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Jimmie Cotton, age 41, born in Alabama; and her husband, John C. Cotton, a farm laborer, age 58, born in Louisiana. Living with them were three children: Ben F. Cotton, age 17; Edna Cotton, age 13; and J. C. Cotton, age 6; all born in Oklahoma.

The 1930 Federal Census for Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Jimmie Cotton, age 51, born in Alabama; and her husband, John Cotton, a farmer, age 74, born in Louisiana. Living with them were two of their children: Benjamin F. Cotton, a produce house laborer, age 28; and J. C. Cotton, age 16; both born in Oklahoma. Also living with them was their granddaughter, Violet E. Gill, age 3 years 4 months, born in Arkansas.

Jimmie died January 7, 1936 in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) and was buried there in the Highland Cemetery. John died April 4, 1936 in Durant and was buried in Highland Cemetery beside his wife.
