(Age 83) Verne of Spokane, WA passed away August 26, 2011 in Spokane.

He was born November 11, 1927 in Ione, WA to George and Kate Pettis.

Verne attended high school in Ione. He owned Vern's Hilltop Service Station & Towing in Moses Lake and had also owned a real estate financing company.
In 1948 Verne married Lena Keopke.
In 1986 he married June Black.
Verne met and married his third wife, Rose Long in 1996 and they enjoyed snowmobiling and traveling in their RV. Verne was a member of the Lilac City Good Sams.

Verne is survived by his wife Rose Pettis; children, Jim and Diane Pettis of Olympia, WA, Linda Trieber of Spokane, Judy and Irv Bayley of Spokane, Verna and Don Jacobson of Airway Heights, Dick and Linda Pettis of Spokane; 10 Grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; also 10 stepchildren, 27 stepgrandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Verne is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.

There will be a family graveside service Wednesday, August 31 at 4pm at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Spokane or Cancer Patient Care.
