Miss May Valentine, well known teacher was raised and partly educated in the Cedar Creek Community in the northeast corner of Stephens County. Through her own efforts she acquired a fine education and taught in the public schools of Graham, South Bend, Breckenridge, Merkel before teaching at the Harmony School [Bee Branch] from 1902-1904. She taught school at Caddo Public Schools from 1904 until her health failed and she was forced to quit teaching. May Valentine was a true Christian lady and a devoted adherent to the Christian Science faith.
She taught school with her sister, Buna Valentine.
Buna Valentine started teaching school at Harmony in 1899.
Their father, Silas Mercer Valentine farmed in the Bee Branch area and was school trustee from 1900-1907. The Bee Branch school closed in 1924 and was consolidated with Cedar and Oak Grove common schools in 1928.
