Edith was the only child in the Alzen family born in Jessie Lake. Her mother died when Edith was four hours old, her dad took care of her for awhile, then Mrs. Dahlberg, a family friend took her in and raised her as her own child. Edith taught school in the Jessie Lake School in 1926/1927 and went back to teaching again in the same school until it closed in 1957, moved with the students to North School until her retirement in 1965. From a notice in the newspaper: 2 June 1929 - Harold Benham and Edith Alzen, Jack Guertler and Esther Johnson were married in a double ring ceremony at the home of Elmer and Amanda Alzen.
