Elmer was born n Duluth and the family came to Jessie Lake when he was a baby. He was very active in the Baptist Church. The church had a string band and Elmer played the musical saw. Elmer died in Greenville, South Carolina when he and Amanda where spending the winter with their daughter, Mary Carol. They were the parents of five children; Sam, Dale, Thelma/Peggy, Mary Carol. Kenneth Elmer died at age 6 months.
