VALPARAISO - Harold L. "Steve" Ton, 73, Valparaiso, died Tuesday (Dec. 19, 2000) at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at White-Love Funeral Home, Chesterton, with the Rev. Nancy C. Kahaian officiating. There will be a private family burial at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ton was born August 29, 1927, in Porter, Ind., to Jacob and Ellen Blink Ton.

Survivors include three sons, Robert and Scott Ton, Porter, and Gregory Ton, Valparaiso; eight grandchildren and two sisters, Johanna Boehm, Porter, and Jeanette DeKoker, Chesterton.

Mr. Ton was an Army veteran who worked as a gas serviceman for 30 years at NIPSCO.

He was a charter member of Moose Lodge 1623, Chesterton, and American Legion Post 502, South Haven.
