Mrs. Hollie Wagner Adams Ward, 96, of Boone and Todd, died Saturday afternoon, March 10, 2001, at Glenstone in Boone.

She was born August 18, 1904, to the late Mack D. and Elizabeth (Betty) Norris Wagner at Meadow Creek in Watauga County.

She was the youngest of eight children. She was married to Wiley L. Adams in 1925 and at that time moved to his home in Todd, where she made her home. To this union was born two sons. She was widowed in 1946, when Wiley died. In 1952 she was married to Lionel Ward, she then went to live at his home in Boone, still maintaining her home in Todd. Lionel died in 1962, and she returned to her home in Todd.

Mrs. ward was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Boone, She was secretary of he Sunday school class and received the 12 years of prefect attendance award. She helped teach the beginners class in Training Union for a number of years and was active in W. M. U. She held several other offices and also helped in Vacation Bible School for several years.

She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary , Watauga Unit #130, as long as her health permitted. She served two terms as unit president, and two terms as District president. She also held several offices and was Prayer, Poppy and membership chairperson for a number of years.

Survivors include two sons, one grandson, two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters.

Services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Austin and Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Mr. Arlie Proffitt. Burial will follow in the Laurel Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
