Charles M. "Chuck" Adams, 79, a longtime Baker City resident, died July 29, 2005, at his home.
His graveside memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pastor Jack Bynum of the United Methodist Church will officiate. Coles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Chuck was born on June 28, 1926, at Todd, N.C., to Wiley Lee and Hollie Wagner Adams. He graduated from high school and entered the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
After he was discharged from the service, he married his wife, Charlene, on Sept. 26, 1947. He loved automobiles and his entire career centered around them. He worked as a mechanic at the Ford garage, in auto-parts sales for Basche-Sage Hardware Store, owned and operated Bridge Street Richfield Gas Station, worked as an auto-parts salesman for McNeil Auto Parts, and owned and operated Charles Adams Part House at Burns.
He retired and he and his wife made their home at Baker City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, and photography. He won many awards for his photos.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Charlene Adams of Baker City; his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Doreen Adams of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Michaela and Colleen Brown and Benjamin Adams; great-grandchildren, Michael Brown and Jeffrey Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Lee Adams and Hollie Ward.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Youth Ministry of the Methodist Church.
