Born in Moody, Texas, Dr. Sebastian attended Decatur Baptist College, Washington State university and graduated from Baylor University in 1929. He graduated from Baylor College of medicine, then in Dallas during 1933 and later interned at San Diego County Hospital in San Diego, Calif

He returned to Rosebud, Fall County, Texas as a general practitioner for three years, then became a resident at Baylor University Medical Center from 1939 to 1943. He also served as an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicen from 1939 to 1942, and was a member of the hospital staff from 1943 until 1878.

Sebastian served as an US Army major in the Baylor Medical Unit, 56th Evacuation Hosptial during World War II. The Unit received commendations for heroic work under almost daily artillery fire for more than ten weeks on the Anzio beachhead in Italy. The field hospital whose normal capacity was 750 beds, handled 1129 patients in a single day and as many as 100 operations. During the first six weeks at Anzio, the hospital's surgical team averaged 67 operations daily.

He married Helen Eudora Hockenhull of Clovis, New Mexico, a daughter of the former governor of New Mexico, Andrew W. Hockenhull.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son Michael Sebastian, three sisters, Mrs. J. L. Staton, Mrs. Paul Leube and Mrs. Dora Alexander; three brothers, A. J. Sebastian, Kirk Sebastian and Clayton Sebastian and two grandchildren.
