He died in Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, New York in April 1979. The remains of Dr. Sebastian were accompanied to Moody, Texas, by his sister, Lula Lee. His memorial service was at First Baptist Church held among his friends and relatives who loved him from childhood and appreciated his achievements as one of the home town boys who went away and made good." His nephews were his pall bearers.
