Charles Persell

Charles Edward Persell, 87, of Bedford, Ky., died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at his residence.

He was born March 8, 1925, in Carroll County, Ky., the son of Charlie Wesley and Georgia Bell Mershall Persell. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Bedford Christian Church, Madison Moose Lodge 765, Madison Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1969 and Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, fishing, traveling, cooking and mowing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Persell; one daughter, Penny Peavy; his parents; and one sister, Mary Ellen Persell.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, Ky. Cremation was chosen and burial will be private at a later date.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hosparus of Louisville. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.

BEDFORD- Persell, Charles Edward, 87, of Bedford, KY, closed his eyes to his earthly home and opened them to his new heavenly home on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was born on March 8, 1925 in Carroll Co., KY to the late Charlie Wesley and Georgia Bell Mershall Persell.

He served his country faithfully during World War II in the US Army.

Charles was a member of the Bedford Christian Church, Madison Moose lodge #765, Madison VFW Post #1969 and Madison American Legion Post #9. He was a devoted and loving father who loved spending time with his family, In his spare time he loved to garden, fish, travel, cook and yard work.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Jewell Persell; a daughter, Penny Peavy; and one sister, Mary Ellen Persell.

Services are 11 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, KY with Reverend Ferrill Davis and Reverend Carl Rucker officiating the service.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, KY.

The family has chosen cremation and burial will be private at a later date.

The family has requested memorial donations be made to Hosparus of Louisville. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
