Mavis R. Corder, 71, of Davidsonville, died June 8 at her home after a long illness. Mrs. Corder was born in Hopewell, Virginia and attended schools in Washington, D.C. She was employed by the former National Bank of Washington for 34 years until her retirement. Her hobby was playing cards and participating in the programs at the South County Senior Center in Edgewater.
Her husband, the late Calvin L. "Cowboy" Corder, died June 30, 2001. Surviving are two sons, Michael Gonella of Bowie and Denis Corder of Fort Meade; one daughter, Deborah Corder of Baltimore; two brothers, William Griffith of Florida and Howard Griffith of North Carolina; three sisters, Beatrice Powell of Capital Heights, Frances Zancan of Harwood, and Joyce Dickerson of Delaware; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. today at the Evans Funeral Home, Route 450 and Racetrack Road in Bowie. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. tomorrow at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood.
