Emile Hyde Dunn
BRIGHAM CITY - Emile Hyde Dunn quietly left this life speaking Tongan on Saturday evening, August 20, 2011. He was born June 20, 1929 in Logan, Utah, raised in Tonga, educated in Logan, worked in various places and lived in Brigham City for 52 years. He married Cleona Elsa Miller June 1, 1953 in the Logan Temple. They had six children and raised them in Brigham City, Utah. Hyde (the name he went by) worked for Thiokol from 1959 until he retired in 1991. He was awarded the Utah Engineer of the year for 1981. Hyde served 3 LDS missions, held many and various stake and ward positions, which included Temple worker at the Tongan Temple and Name Extraction. A patriotic man, Hyde was a First Lieutenant in the Air Force from 1954 through 1956. Hyde would always fly the flag proudly and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed working with his hands, creating Bonsai trees, tropical plants, traveling, inventing, and he had an insatiable curiosity. He was a do it yourself man and was known as a �jack of all trades and master of most.�
Hyde is preceded in death by his parents Emile Craner and Evelyn Hyde Dunn, and an infant son, Dan L. Dunn. Surviving Hyde are his wife, Cleona Elsa Miller Dunn, son Raymond M. (Mary) Dunn, SLC, UT; daughters Marlees Dunn, Merritt Island, FL; Johlyn Dunn, Idaho Falls, ID; Denise Sargent (Scott), Kemmerer, WY; son, Neil Hyde Dunn (Julie), Manhattan, KS; six grandchildren and two sisters, Karen Black (Joseph), Sierra Vista, AZ; Ofa Lillywhite (Robert), Farmington, UT.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the 19th Ward, 105 W. Fishburn, Brigham City. Friends may call on Wednesday, August 24 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E. Brigham City, and on Thursday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the church.
Interment in the Providence Cemetery.
