Thomas Marion Cobb was the son of William H Cobb 1851 – 1929 and Mary A Eidson 1846 – 1931. His siblings were: Charles Cobb 1871; Maxey Cobb 1872; Leonard Cobb 1875; Martha Sophia Cobb 1884 – 1967 and Sallie J. Cobb 1888 – 1932.

About 1904 Thomas Marion Cobb became the groom of Matilda Matilda Frances Russell. Together they had the following children: Eta Cobb 1906; Eva Cobb 1906; Robert Cobb 1908 – 1954; Roy Cobb 1912; Mary F Cobb 1915 – 1991; Lula Belle Cobb 1921 – 2002 and Eugene Cobb 1925 – 1978.

On census records it was learned that Thomas Marion Cobb used his middle name of Marion and Matilda was called "Tilda."

In 1920, they were living in a house that they rented and Marion was working as a farmer.

In 1930, they owned their home in rural Bulls Gap at St Clair and Heck Town Road. They declared that it was valued at $1,800.00 and was self employed as a blacksmith, working 38 hr. a week.

The 1940 census revealed that they were still living at the same place. Lula Bell and Eugene were still living at home, and they were listed as unpaid family workers. Marion, Tilda, Lula Bell and Eugene had all completed eight grades of elementary school. Marion was still working as a blacksmith.

On May 18, 1945, about lunch time Marion suffered a Cerebral hemorrhage and about 7hrs later, at 7:15 pm, he passed away. His daughter Mary Arnold of Bulls Gap was the informant on his death certificate. A.J. Stewart Funeral Home was called to prepare his body for burial. May 20,1945 Tilda gathered her family and friends at her dear husbands grave site to bid him farewell. (bio by Audrey DeCamp Hoffman)
