On census records it was learned that she was called "Tilda"
and he used his middle name of Marion.

In 1920, they were living in a house that they rented and Marion was working as a farmer.

In 1930, they owned their home in rural Bulls Gap at St Clair and Heck Town Road. They declared that it was valued at $1,800.00 and was self employed as a blacksmith, working 38 hr. a week.

The 1940 census revealed that they were still living at the same place. Lula Bell and Eugene were still living at home, and they were listed as unpaid family workers. Marion, Tilda, Lula Bell and Eugene had all completed eight grades of elementary school. Marion was still working as a blacksmith.

On May 18, 1945, about lunch time Marion suffered a Cerebral hemorrhage and about 7hrs later, at 7:15 pm, he passed away. His daughter Mary Arnold of Bulls Gap was the informant on his death certificate. A.J. Stewart Funeral Home was called to prepare his body for burial. May 20,1945 Tilda gathered her family and friends at her dear husbands grave site to bid him farewell.
