Elmer Lee Bennight, 78, of Shawnee, Oklahoma went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008. He was born September 2, 1929, to Elmer and Minnie (Parenti) Bennight in Shady Point, Okla. He was a retired insurance agent and an U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church of Shawnee. Elmer was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an active church member and loved by his family, many friends and colleagues. He was preceeded in death by his parents, and a sister Maurine Mims. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Glennis Bennight of the home; two daughters, Sharon Stephen and husband Eddie, of Shawnee, Linda Howard and husband Ken of Van Buren, Arkansas; son, Douglas Bennight of Michigan; granddaughters, Brandy Cluck and husband Danny, of Meeker, Candace Byrd and husband Eric of Hackett, Arkansas; grandsons, Justin Bennight, of Oklahoma City, and Nicolas Howard and wife Lori of Fort Smith, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Noah Cluck, Donavan Route, and Devan Byrd and sister JoAnn Baldwin and husband Harold, of Muskogee; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be 10:00 a.m.Thursday at the Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Ron Baldridge and Rev. Robert Westfall officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta, Okla. under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
