John Sherrard was born in Hyde Park, Templepatrick,Antrim, Northern Ireland, the son of Robert Sherrard. His mother's name is unknown at this time. He married Margaret Brookmire on 12 Jul 1850 in Carnmoney Church of Ireland in Newtownabbey, Antrim, Northern Ireland. Their children, all born in Northern Ireland are: Sarah Jane (1852-1888)(who was my great-grandmother), Robert (1858-?), Ezekiel (1862-1940), Margaret (1864-1938), Hugh C. (1871-1967), Joseph (?-?). John and Margaret immigrated to America with daughter, Margaret and son, Hugh. They lived in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania until the early 1900s when John and Margaret moved to Skidmore, Missouri to live with Margaret and her family. "Died This Morning
John Sherrard died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Barrett, Sr., Thursday morning, Jan. 4, 1917, at 7 a.m. He was born at Belfast, Ireland, April 14, 1827. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made."

"Obituary - John Sherrard
John Sherrard was born near Belfast, Ireland, April 14, 1827, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Barrett, near Skidmore, Mo., Thursday, Jan. 4, 1917, aged 89 years, 8 months and 20 days, old age being given as the cause of death.
Mr. Sherrard came to America about forty years ago and settled in Pennsylvania where he resided for about twenty-five years. He later moved to Missouri, and for the past fifteen years has resided with his daughter near Skidmore.
Besides his daughter he leaves three sons, Hugh Sherrard of Sugar Grove, Pa., Ezekiel of Pittsburg, Pa., Robert, of Newtownards, Ireland, and a number of grandchildren. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and had always lived a Christian life.
The funeral services were held at the home Saturday, January 6, conducted by Rev. Reubin Barrett, and burial was in Masonic cemetery."
