"The Carnesville Herald and Advance", January, 1957, "Around the Countryside", Mr. Leon Hutcherson, weekly columnist...
Mr. Chester Carson, seventy-six, died at home early Thursday, following two or three years of declining health. He had been confined to his bed for two weeks and his passing was no surprise to those who knew of his condition. His home is the old Willie Carson home, where he was born and where he spent his life. He was never known to be guilty of any kind of misconduct. His standard of living was noble and of high quality. He was a clean life unassuming and honorable.
He was a lifetime member of Hebron Presbyterian Church and was a longtime member of the board of deacons and had filled other important posts in the church. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Glasure, and a daughter, Jane who is a junior at Flora MacDonald College in North Carolina, and a son, William, a junior at Franklin County High School, also a sister, Miss Ora, who is an invalid and has always lived at the old home; one brother, Mr. Ivan Carson of Dalton, Georgia and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Hebron Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with the pastor, Rev. James Coad officiating.
After praying for the Holy Spirit's guidance and comfort for the occasion, Mr. Coad read appropriate and meaningful portions of Scripture, emphazing the influence shed from the light of a Christian's life. He paid a fitting tribute to Mr. Carson.
During the service, Rock of Ages and Abide With Me, were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Hobson Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. Ben Martin at the piano.
Nephews were the pallbearers. Interment was in the church cemetery with Sanders Funeral Home in charge.
