Husband of Elizabeth (Clarke) Anthony ~ married April 22, 1741
Their daughter, Sarah "Sallie" Anthony (m. Thomas Cooper, Rev. War Sol.)
"The son of Mark and Isabella (Hart) Anthony, Joseph Sr married Elizabeth Clark on 22 Apr 1741 in VA. Joseph and Elizabeth had 15 Children:
1) Sarah Anthony Cooper (1742-1796), m: Capt Thomas Cooper.
2) Christopher Anthony (1744-1815), m: Judith Moorman.
3) Elizabeth Anthony Candler (b: 1746), m: Col William Candler.
4) Penelope Anthony Johnson (1748-1822), m: James Johnson.
5) Joseph Anthony Jr (1750-1810), m: Elizabeth Ann Clark (his cousin).
6) James Anthony (1752-1817), m: Nancy Ann Tate.
7) Mary Anthony (b: 1754), m: Josiah Carter.
8) Charles Anthony (1757-1792), his widow married brother Micajah.
9) Micajah Anthony (1759-1793), m: widow Susan (Tate) Anthony.
10) Agnes Anthony (1761-1829), m: Churchill Blakey.
11) Rachel Anthony (1763-1800)
12) Winifred Anthony (1765-1855), m1: Joseph Blakey, m2: John Carter.
13) Mark Anthony (b: 1767), m: Elizabeth Stinson.
14) Bolling Anthony (1769-1827), m: Nancy Ann Stone.
15) Judith Anthony(b: 1771), m1: William Greene, m2: Robert Ware.
Joseph Sr resided on "Lawyer's Road" located in what is now Franklin Co, near the Staunton River. There are existing DAR Papers.

Occupation:
Land owner in Louisa, Hanover, Albemarle Co VA; also owned land in Bedford Co VA.
Religion:
Quaker
His Will is dated 24 Sep 1785, Henry Co VA Will Book I, pg. 120.
2,040 acres were entered by Joseph Anthony Sr in Biscuit Run Valley, Albemarle Co and moved to Bedford Co VA."
