John Alfred Cheshire, 81, died Thursday at Norton Hospital.

He was born on January 14, 1918, in New Hope, Kentucky, the son of George Cheshire and Rose L. Woods.

He retired from Atlas Machine & Supply Inc.

Survivors: his wife, the former Vivian M. Stettenbenz; a son, Jack Cheshire; daughters Dorothy Flowers and Janet Woodward; a brother, Joseph Chesher; sisters Mary C. Wacyky, Betsy Winn, Cecilia Wright, and Gladys Feger-Pendleton; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: noon Saturday, Owen, 5317 Dixie Highway. Burial: St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation: after 9 a.m. Saturday.
