Jerry Francis Ainsworth, 76, passed from this earth to his heavenly home on August 17, 2011 after an extended illness. He was born on May 20, 1935 in Jackson, Mississippi to Lexi and Travis Ainsworth.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Francis Ainsworth, II; his mother and father; his sister and brother-in-law, LaNita and Bob Barnett; his brother-in-law, David Overall; and his sisters-in-law, Hazel Watkins.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jobie Ainsworth of Hattiesburg; his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Charlie Evers of Madison; two grandsons, Taylor and Jackson of Madison; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Margie Overall of Jackson; sister-in-law, Ava Overall of Fort Pierce, Fla.; seven nieces, two nephews and a number of great-nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ainsworth was a member of Temple Baptist Church for 64 years, a member of the Sunday school class and a member of the Celebration Choir. He was chaplain of the Forrest County jail until his health declined. He and his family owned Hattiesburg Manufacturing Company for a number of years. He was assistant manager for Zenith TV Corporation in Lewisburg, Penn. and plant manager at Custom Wood Products in Roanoke, Va. He was very talented in woodworking, building many pieces of furniture for his family. He served our country in the U.S. Army and was scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 70 for many years.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. at Hardy Street Baptist Church followed by services at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hardy Street Baptist Church in his memory.
