Mrs. Kate Sutton Edwards died last Friday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Gibsland, with Rev. J.I. Funderburk, pastor, officiating. Assisting were Rev. B.L. Terry and Rev. Hogan Hunter, nephew of Mrs. Edwards. Interment was in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery under the direction of Conger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Edwards, daughter of the late Hattie Henry Sutton and J.O. Sutton, was born on June 30, 1885. In early life she taught school in Mt. Lebanon and later became postmistress there. Several years ago she retired because of ill health. A prolific writer, at one time she was a frequent contributor to the Democrat. She will be remembered for her numerous and faithful services to the Baptist church and her ever dedication to her Lord.
She is survived by three brothers, Fred Sutton and Josh Sutton of Gibsland, and Henry Sutton of Mt. Lebanon. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
