Guy W. Lewis was born to Ralph and Emma (Otto) Lewis during the brief period that Ralph worked in the oil fields of Pennsylvania. Normally the Lewis family resided in Cattaraugus County, New York, where most of the other children had been born. In 1883 the family moved west to homestead in Keya Paha County, Nebraska.
Guy married Anna Heiden in 1904 and they had five children: Emma Josephine, Donald Roy, Luella Maxine, Anna Mae and Oma Jean.

FUNERAL MONDAY AT GREGORY FOR GUY LEWIS, 80
By Republic News Service

GREGORY -- Funeral services for Guy Lewis, 80, will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Gregory, with the Rev. Orlando Sloat officiating. Mr. Lewis died Thursday at the Community Hospital in Gregory, the result of a heart attack.

Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of the Kotrba Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be J.A. Fulwider and William Faatz, both of Gregory, Cliff Smith and Ernest Shattuck, both of Dallas, Milo Adams of Ainsworth, Neb., and Reinhold Eisenbraun of Wewela.

Members of the Masonic Lodge of Dallas will conduct graveside rites.

Mr. Lewis was born Jan. 9, 1881 in Pennsylvania, the son of Ralph and Emma Lewis. As a young man he lived with his parents near Springview, Neb. He married Anna Heyden of Lutes, Neb., June 1, 1904.

The couple moved to South Dakota the following year and farmed near Paxton until 1948 when they retired and moved to Gregory.

Mr. Lewis was a long time member of IOOF Lodge and the Masonic Lodge of Dallas. He also was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors are his widow, four daughters, Mrs. George Dall of Princeton, Ill., Mrs. Vernon Jamison of Wewela and Mrs. Joe Marek and Mrs. Lloyd Shattuck of Gregory; one son, Donald of Burton, Neb.; one sister, Mrs. James Runyon of Idaho, 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
