Benjamin F. Beazell (Donora American - Friday, June 4, 1915)
Benjamin F. Beazell, D. D., resident of Rostraver Township and noted divine of the Methodist Episcopal church, died at his home Tuesday morning June 1st, at 10 o'clock, after an illness of several months duration. Funeral services will be held at Fell's church this (Friday) afternoon at 1:30 o'clock.
Benjamin F. Beazell was born in Webster February 7, 1844, the son of Benjamin Fell Beazell and grandson of Benjamin Fell, who settled in Rostraver township in 1876 ad who built Fell's church, the second of the Methodist Episcopal denomination west of the Alleghenies. Dr. Beazell served in the Civil War and was graduated from Allegheny college in 1868. In 1869 he was admitted to the Pittsburgh conference and served as pastor of churches in Woodsfield, St. Clairsville, Mt. union and Wiloughby, Ohio, Latrobe, Pa, Oakland, St. Paul and North End, Pittsburgh.
For six years Dr. Beazell was presiding elder of the Pittsburgh district. He wrote extensively for the periodicals of the church and was not only a preacher of eloquence, but also an executive of unusual ability.
He is survived by Mrs. Beazell, who was Miss Amelia Lyon , of Pennsville Pa., and three children: Mrs. Edna B. Harter, of South Pasadena, Cal., W. P. Beazell, of the editorial staff of the New York World, and B. F. Beazell Jr.
