William was born on October 5, 1905 at Bonesteel, South Dakota to August and Josie Mary (Hysell) Kappelman.

He was united in marriage to Edna Hauf on April 20, 1934 at Winner, South Dakota. To this union two children were born.

William operated the picture machine in the Winner Theatre. In 1931, he moved to Gregory, South Dakota with his family. There he worked at the Lyric Theatre operating the moving picture machine.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; a daughter, Delores Kappelman; a son, Bobby Gene; his parents, August and Josie Mary Kappelman of Winner, SD; one brother, Clyle (Inez) Kappelman of Highmore, SD; three sisters, Dorothy (Raymond) Alloway of Gregory, SD, Ila May (Tony) Rehak of Winner, SD and Twyla Kappelman of Winner, SD.
