St. George, Utah - Our beloved father, husband, grandfather, and friend, Shelton Jones Bergeson, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, after a long and valiant fight with cancer at the age of 78. He was surrounded by his loving family who will miss him dearly. Shelton was born in Groveland, Idaho on Feb. 4, 1933, to Alvin Frederick and Millie May Jones Bergeson.

He married his sweetheart Marsha Kim Glover on June 9, 1954, in the Idaho Falls Temple; the two were inseparable from that day forward. Shelton & Marsha had 8 children that were the light and the focus of their lives.

Shelton earned his degree in Agriculture from Utah State University in 1961, and worked in the sugar beet seed industry most of his career. Shelton was a true farmer at heart and loved to watch things grow. He always had amazing gardens and would share the fruits of his labors with all of his family and neighbors. Shelton was very athletic and was involved in many sports growing up. Coaching baseball and basketball teams was also one of his true passions throughout his life. He celebrated many accomplishments with those that he coached.

Shelton was active in ward and stake organizations all his life; callings in the Bishopric, Ward Missionary, served a full time LDS mission with his wife in the Spokane, WA mission as well as a local mission in St. George, Utah.

Surviving are: 8 children: Blaine Bergeson (Leslee), Larry Bergeson (Terry), Todd Bergeson, Brenda Milne, Chris Bergeson (Atsuko), Paul Bergeson (Chrissy), Bill Bergeson and MaShel West (Clay). Also surviving are 30 grandchildren and 16
great grandchildren as well as his brother Cleon.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marsha, his parents, his siblings: Geneva, Bert, Bill, Elnora, and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bloomington Hills 8th Ward Chapel, 1222 E Brigham Road, St. George, Utah. There will be a viewing Friday, August 19, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., and also Saturday, from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to services at the Chapel. Interment will be Saturday, August 20, at 8:00 p.m. at the Groveland Cemetery in Blackfoot (Groveland), Idaho.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the amazing nursing staff at the Beehive Home on River Road for the loving care of their father, they became like family to us all. Also, much gratitude to Southern Utah Home Care & Hospice for their incredible support
