Nicklas was in Illinois and moved to Hamilton Co, NE in 1879 and then to Red Willow Co, NE. He moved back to Hamilton Co, NE in 1882 and was married there to Christina Carlson on 5 Oct 1889. He moved to Burlington, IA in about 1895 and farmed in Des Moines Co, IA. There were 10 children: Charlie, Maude, Clarence, John, Effie, Sophie, Ruth, Etta, Pearl and Russell.
