Death of a Pioneer.
At 10:30 o'clock this morning, Mr. Martin Collins died of congestion of the bowels at his late residence on First street, between West and Mulberry.
Mr. Collins' was born in Ireland Nov. 15, 1815, hence being in his 74th year at his death. He came to this city in1849 and has made Madison his home ever since. He was a tailor by trade and conducted a successful business in the days of Madison's early prosperity. Though he has passed the allotted number of years for man's life, his demise causes sincere sorrow, not only to the bereaved family, which consists of a wife and two children, Mrs. Rheinhart, of Indianapolis, and Patrick, of this city, but to our citizens who know that his life has no dark corners, and that honesty has attended all his dealing, while his declining years have been made pleasant ones through care and devotion of his wife and children.
