John William was the 3rd child born to Elizabeth Jane ( Brooks )& Joseph William Kellum.

Elizabeth was 22 years old & Joseph was 28 years old at the time of John's birth. Two older sisters, Myrtle Della & Eva Adeline also welcomed their baby brother into the household.

John was born in Camden Township, Schuyler County, Illinois.

John grew up on a farm and this well prepared him for his adult occupation as a farmer. He lived in the Industry community all of his life.

He met and then married Sarah "Sallie" Ann Vaughn on January 31, 1904 in Fulton County, Illinois.

To this union was born one child, a son named Kenneth Franklin Kellum.

John & Sallie were blessed with 41 years of marriage before Sallie passed away on March 10, 1945.

After his retirement from farming in 1944, John sold his farm ground and moved to Industry. He then became the grounds keeper for the Industry Grade School.

On June 26, 1948 while mowing the lawn at the Grade School, John passed away from a heart attack. He had been under the care of his physician for several years due to myocarditis, a heart ailment.

John William Kellum was 69 years 7 months and 24 days old at the time of his death.

Clugston Funeral Home was in charge of funeral services. Services were held on June 28th at the Industry Methodist Church with the Rev. M.P. Ingram officiating. Interment was at the Industry Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
