William F Graves was born in August 1823 in Surry County, North Carolina the son of James Graves 1786–1849 and Sally Watkins 1787–1860.

On the 20th of May 1845 William "F" Graves Married FIRST: Mary Louisa HARTZELL in Jay County, Indiana. Mary was born in Pennsylvania in 1824 the daughter of Jonas J Hartzell 1795-1880 and his wife, Mary ALBERT 1799-1883. The Newlyweds resided in Jay County, Indiana where all four of their sons were born.
William "F" and 1st Wife, Mary Louisa Graves were the Parents of:
1 - Albert James "Jim" Graves 15 Oct 1846 - 31 Jan 1923 aged 76
2 - Henderson D. Graves 15 Feb 1848 - 6 Aug 1921 aged 73
3 - James "Jim" Franklin Graves 24 Aug 1849 - 7 Jul 1937 aged 87
4 - William T. "Billy" Graves 21 Jan 1851- 24 Mar 1931 aged 80
On the 23 of January 1851, only two days after the birth of William "Billy" Graves on the 21st of January, Mary Graves DIED from complications of Child Birth. Overcome with grief, William "F" Graves could not cope with raising his four children. The Graves boys were then raised by Isaac Tullis, Levi Warnock, and Henderson Graves was raised by the Jonas Hartzell family until he returned.
By the 1st of July 1863 the US Civil War Draft Registration lists William "F" Graves age as 40 and was an unmarried Widower living in Boon, Cass County, Indiana in the 9th Congressional District.
On the 1st of December 1865 William "F" Graves married his SECOND wife, Ruth Hannah WILLIAMS in Cass County, Indiana.

5 - John Allen Graves 16 Sep 1864 - 21 May 1926 aged 61
According to the 1880 Census, William "F" age 56, Ruth age 37, and son John age 16, were living in Monticello, White County, Indiana where son John was born.
William "F", wife Ruth, and son John have all relocated to Gilead, Thayer County, Nebraska by the 16th of June 1885 where William was a farmer, Ruth and her son, John were carpet weavers. William "F" and Ruth Graves' son, John A Graves now 22 years old and fiancé, 19 year old Maggie E REYNOLDS 1867-1954 were married by Reverend George W Hawley on the 3rd of April 1887 in Thayer County, Nebraska. Maggie was the daughter of Jonathan Reynolds 1843-1909 and his wife, Amanda OWENS 1844-_____.
By the 2nd of June 1900 William "F" Graves and his wife Ruth were both living in Hebron, Thayer, Nebraska. Several months later, in October of 1900 William "F" Graves died at the age of 77 and was buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery located in Hebron, Thayer, Nebraska.

Isaac Tullis Levi Warnock Henderson Graves was raised with the Jeremiah Hartzell family. Wm. F. re-married in Cass Co., In in 1865 lived near Monticello, In. then moved on to Nebraska. Son, Wm. T. moved to Neb. for a short time but moved back to Indiana.

I tried to answer a question regarding William F Graves and in doing so went back to the DNA and sources on ancestry.com to look and discovered the middle name FELTON has been removed or I just can't locate it. On the 1st of December 1865 William "F" Graves married his SECOND wife, Ruth Hannah WILLIAMS in Cass County, Indiana.

According to the 1880 Census, William "F" age 56, Ruth age 37, and son John age 16, were living in Monticello, White County, Indiana where son John was born.
William "F", wife Ruth, and son John have all relocated to Gilead, Thayer County, Nebraska by the 16th of June 1885 where William was a farmer, Ruth and her son, John were carpet weavers. William "F" and Ruth Graves' son, John A Graves now 22 years old and fiancé, 19 year old Maggie E REYNOLDS 1867-1954 were married by Reverend George W Hawley on the 3rd of April 1887 in Thayer County, Nebraska. Maggie was the daughter of Jonathan Reynolds 1843-1909 and his wife, Amanda OWENS 1844-_____.
By the 2nd of June 1900 William "F" Graves and his wife Ruth were both living in Hebron, Thayer, Nebraska. Several months later, in October of 1900 William "F" Graves died at the age of 77 and was buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery located in Hebron, Thayer, Nebraska.

On the 20th of May 1845 William "F" Graves Married FIRST: Mary Louisa HARTZELL in Jay County, Indiana. Mary was born in Pennsylvania in 1824 the daughter of Jonas J Hartzell 1795-1880 and his wife, Mary ALBERT 1799-1883. The Newlyweds resided in Jay County, Indiana where all four of their sons were born.
